Upcoming Projects

Talitha Cumi Empowerment Project

Goal

 1. Provide safe transitional housing and permanent housing support and offer other essential resources for survivors and their children.

2. Deliver trauma-informed counseling services and peer support, fostering healing and resilience.

3. Facilitate job skills development, life skills training, and job placement, and entrepreneurship support. This economically empowers women and strengthens their autonomy and rights.

4. Conduct widespread and targeted community outreach and awareness initiatives to educate communities and reduce stigma around GBV.

Currently, we offer a range of integrated services:

  • Transitional Housing: Secure, temporary accommodation for women survivors of domestic violence, and children, with pathways to permanent housing.
  • Counseling Services: Faith-based, trauma-informed counseling for survivors and their children, open to both residents and community referrals. Counseling services will be provided using a standard counseling plan that addresses the mental disorder of abuse and integrates spiritual care into behavior modification. This addresses the stigma of seeking mental health services and aligns with the cultural context of Nigeria.
  • Women’s Economic Empowerment: Skills training in catering, tailoring, IT, etc., and small business management, plus job preparation, readiness and placement.
  • Community Awareness: Outreach in schools, churches, and local groups, and communities at large, using storytelling and educational campaigns to shift attitudes and inform about gender-based violence (GBV).
  • Survivor-led Peer Support (Arise and Empower Peer Support initiative): Survivor-led peer mentoring and support groups to foster community and mutual empowerment.
  • Warm Line Services: A helpline offering immediate emotional support and resource referrals by trained lay counselors.
  • Legal Support Referrals: Connection to free or subsidized legal services. To facilitate access to legal services

About Us

The International Health Promotion Initiative (IHPI) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to improving health and wellness across underserved communities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Founded on the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life, IHPI empowers individuals and communities through education, grassroots projects, and sustainable health solutions.

We work hand-in-hand with young volunteers to implement creative, tech-enabled programs that tackle real challenges—from maternal health and disease prevention to community empowerment and gender equality.

At IHPI, we’re not just giving—we’re building. Because true health equity begins when communities are equipped to lead their own transformation.

Our Mission

To provide education and resources that promote health, wellness, and prevent diseases among underserved populations in sub-Saharan Africa.

Our Vision

A future where every individual in sub-Saharan Africa has the tools and knowledge needed to live a healthy life.

Our Philosophy

“We need to change the mentality of open arms ready to receive — what do we have to give and share?” At IHPI, we encourage everyone to share their time, laughter, companionship, love, and resources to build stronger, healthier communities.
